A message from the camp program founder….

Latin Groove Dance Academy is pleased to welcome your child to our 2019 SUMMER DAY CAMP! Our team is so excited about the activities we have planned, and we cannot wait to create wonderful memories with our campers. Through team building exercises, games, sports, and dance classes — our program will provide each camper with endless opportunities to learn, grow, and have FUN.

My vision is for campers to explore our camp’s core values:

D. A. N. C. E. R

Discover . Achieve . Nourish . Create . Encourage . Respect

Each day of camp will be dedicated to exploring one core value at a time, and the day’s activities will follow the theme. With our first day of camp focusing on “Discover”, campers will get to know each other and start developing friendships — along with discovering new skills in the day’s activities, classes, and team building exercises. “Achieve” will explore setting goals and developing plans to reach them. “Nourish” will explore nutrition and nourishing healthy bodies and minds. “Create” will focus on leadership making art and brief dance numbers. “Encourage” will focus on building each other up. “Respect” will be implemented daily, as it is the most important value that will keep camp enjoyable for everyone.

I believe these values will not only give our campers a memorable summer experience, but they will be able to apply these values to their daily lives for years to come. Last year’s campers have a special place in my heart, and I’m so happy to see how they’ve grown throughout the year while continuing to embrace these values. We all look forward to seeing new and returning campers experience a brand new camp season.

Although I am out of town performing in a show (I will be returning to work the final week of camp). I will be closely monitoring the curriculum and activities of this year’s camp sessions. With the help of our incredible and energetic staff, we will make sure our camp days are filled with fresh and fun-filled activities.

Camp information is listed below to ensure your child’s enjoyment and safety at camp. Please let us know if you have any questions/concerns about our program. Again, thank you for choosing Latin Groove Dance Academy for a summer of fun!

What are the camp hours?

Camp hours are 8am - 3pm, Monday thru Friday. Campers may be dropped off as early as 7:45am.

What is the age range?

LGDA Summer Camp is for children ages 5 - 15. Many activities will be separated by age group.

What should my child pack?

Campers must wear comfortable clothing and sneakers they can play and dance in. They are also encouraged to pack any dance shoes they have (ballet slippers, jazz slippers, tap shoes, etc)

They are expected to bring their own lunch/snacks for the day. Campers are encouraged to bring their own water to camp. However, water bottles are sold at the studio for $1.00.

Is lunch/water provided?

Unfortunately lunch is not provided. Campers must pack lunch and snacks for the day. Refrigerators are available for food storage if needed. Campers are encouraged to bring their own water for the day, but we do sell bottles of water at the studio for $1.00

Are all activities supervised?

Absolutely. Supervision and safety are extremely important to us, as well as monitoring conversations and activities to prevent bullying. The adult to camper ratio will never be higher than 10 to 1. It will frequently be 7 or 8 to 1. At least two camp counselors will always be present at off-site activities.

For walking field trips and off-site activities, campers will always be escorted to these location safely with at least two counselors/staff members. Campers and counselors will practice proper safe-travel techniques (maintaining a single filed line, adult at front and back of line, no running, staying with a buddy, roll call before leaving, etc)

Will campers be dancing?

Dance is a part of the summer camp program. Each camper will experience samples of the variety of classes we offer. We suggest bringing ballet or jazz slippers, sneakers, and tap shoes.

What will campers be doing?

In addition to dancing, campers will also spend time working on team building activities, creativity exercises, and playing games. Daily activities range from classic playtime games like “Tag” and “Duck Duck Goose”, to reading, to relay races, to choreography composition workshops, etc. Dancers will also work about teamwork, respect, confidence, and nutrition. We also have pool and park days. (Permission slips are provided in registration)
